I was thinking of assigning my students to decide what, to them, are the five most powerful words. Of course, swearing is not allowed - and I'd like to stick with English. So, your words?
Did you get these out of your head, or were they from the latest State of the Union Address? I love the word "appalled". It makes me feel British somehow.
They're from the head -- they just seemed the strongest to me at the time. To me most words don't really get their full strength until combined with other words -- kinda like the rings that summon Captain Planet, except in this case, like, Captain Sentence/Captain Sentence Fragment/Captain Phrase.

these were my first impression however, now that i think about it, some of the "ideas" behind the words are powerful, but maybe not the actual words.
