This scares me. I wish I could do more as I'm not a owner of any fansite, I wonder how this will impact on networking sites like LJ and DW.

That's one of the things about this that is so frustrating - no one knows how it will effect larger sites (DW & LJ among them) if they are sharing yaoi material. Are they going to block all of Amazon just because you can buy material there that is technically illegal?

Dude, some of the stuff that you can buy at JBs is skirting technically illegal. A lot of the stuff you can buy at Borders is practically there. And yet, there they are, still imported and sold.

ETA: which shows how hypocritical the whole thing is.

Even if you're not an owner of a fansite, you can contact your local MP or Senator Conroy directly - find the details at nocleanfeed. You'll probaby get the same letter back as I did, saying that I'm a bad person who doesn't want to SAVE THE CHILDREN, but numbers count.

Thank you for posting about this! I would also add that GetUp! have been campaigning heavily about this and have a link for you to send feedback directly to Senator Conroy: http://www.getup.org.au/campaign/SaveTheNet&id=892

(And I totally owe you email!)
