Did anyone see the$9.99 silk taffeta sale at Fabric Mart? There's some really good stuff. The jacquards in particular are extremely nice for mid-19th century. Patterned silks with woven texture are fairly common in extants, but not often seen in reproduction. A lot of the tan blends (just one example) look very much like things I've seen in museums ( Read more... )

Oh, probably the blues and the purples, and a couple of nicer spring/summer dresses. (I just found a couple of spiffy 1892 repros at the quilt shop, though, so I have plenty of cottons to do up, plus the wools. And I need to make some new blouses, too, probably lawn/Swiss dot. Still, I don't have any silk in the stash yet....)
