... sort of! It means possibility of all three freezing rain, sleet, and/or snow. In actuality, as a front comes in the radar will show all three types in succession. As the air gets colder with the front moving through, freezing rain (water that freezes on contact) changes to sleet (water frozen in the air) which changes to snow (frozen water vapor). Depending on where you are in the Metroplex, you may get only one, or all three.
Functionally, what it means for us is that we won't really be cold enough to for-sure get sleet or snow. Looking ahead, since we had the first frozen precip warnings only two weeks ago, we're in for a cold, wet winter. Often we don't see frozen precip until January, and the worst events are usually in early February.
Heh. Maybe it's just me, but if I were E. I'd be SO EXCITED about playing dress up and THEN playing with the ice. (This is coming from someone who HAS dressed up and gone for a long walk in the Christmas Eve Blizzard of 2009 - with my nearly-20yo brother in full WWII winter gear. Yes.)
Oh, I fully plan on dressing him up in his costume and playing in the snow at our house if it actually snows, but I'm just worried about the ice. Icy roads means that I can't drive us to the event, which would be so sad. I REALLY want to go to this thing! :(
Yeah, I totally understand. But I should also note:
(1) This forecast is for West Fort Worth. Ice chances decrease drastically as you go east (and south).
(2) Remember how warm it has been! And what a bust all the "ice warnings" were just two weeks ago! With the ground this warm, it is really hard for ice to form.
Just wait and see, and don't let it stress you! :)
