Well, we've had a very pleasant break from intense heat for just over a week.  We've gotten only a little rain, but there have been enough clouds to keep the temperatures definitely below 100º.  Mid- to upper-90s is *much* better than the 100s, especially when there's some shade.  Yesterday got up to 102º, but it's only 93º now and cloudy.  The ( Read more... )

Haha! It's only fair, though, that I'd probably freeze solid during your winter! I'm pretty miserable when cold.

Thank you, I'm enjoying it!

Yay for a solo! :) Which song is it? Or is that a secret?

No secret, but it's a pretty crazy song - about coffee! :p You can hear part of the song here:

I'm doing all the female solo bits, sprinkled throughout. And it's fun that Byron has the male solo. I'm not doing it quite so... sprightly, though! :D

I agree with castlevonklink on the traffic/heat thing. Good Lord. We had, what, four days? A week? in the nineties and I thought I was in hell.

Also, holy crap; high C? I thought I was doing well to get to A. I mean, I am doing well to get to A. Anything higher than that starts to sound like a distressed feline.

...is domestic cotton organdy the opposite of "wild" or "free range" cotton organdy? ;)

I'm *miserable* in cold weather, so it really evens out. That's why you're up there and I'm down here!

Eh, well, that's not to say it doesn't sound like a distressed feline hitting high C! :p I'm not nearly practiced enough to tell if I could hit it alone, sounding decent. Heck, I don't do solos *anyway*, much less of anything challenging. But in a group, the quality of the voice is smoothed over and it's just the note that comes through. And that, apparently, I can do.

And for what it's worth, at Music Man practice last night I was really getting experience at what it's like to high a high B-flat while dancing. Box step, spin, and pose! Whee!

... Ha! :D I just meant it's the natural fiber, no-chemical-finish version of sew-in interfacing. As opposed to the nice stuff from England or India, or the really nice stuff from Switzerland.

Neat about the solo! Now I'll have to buy that CD, too (if you record it)! ;)

Wow, you do have a big range! I don't think I can get any more than 2 octaves, the highest being an A, on a good day.

Oh wow, I don't think we've really thought about a CD yet! :D I'm not sure, that might have to wait on funds, and we're pretty small. But I might be able to do some kind of live recording at a concert. For sure my parents will videotape.

It's kinda crazy, yeah. But although it sounds impressive, it's not like I can sing flawlessly for all that range. The C is pretty much a shriek! :p At least I've never caught myself being flat or sharp on those high ones. I either nail them, loud and long, nail them and cut off because I didn't have enough breath, or make no sound at all! :D
