Title: Moon in the afternoon [1/1]
Pairing: BangHim
Rating: G
Summary: Yongguk's grandmother is looking for something and he tries to help but it's kind of hard when you don't know what. Thankfully, a handsome stranger comes alone to help them

‘Help me look Gukie - It’s around here somewhere’ Yongguk glances at his grandmother where she’s peering into bushes. He takes her by the shoulders as a young couple walk passed, both looking rather concerned and steers her away from the road side. She shakes him off as he smiles apologetically to a woman pushing a pram and leans over a bin. She picks at a carrier bag on top and he cringes in disgust. ‘Grandmother, don’t -’ She gets him in the back of his knee with his grandfather’s walking stick.

Yongguk sighs as he follows her around, she doesn’t really stray that far from her apartment complex but he keeps a few paces behind her - just in case. ‘What exactly are we looking for?’ Yongguk asks as she peers into a barber shop window. Several men glance up at them and a little boy sticks out his tongue. Yongguk pulls a face back and she jabs him in the ribs with the handle of the walking stick. Yongguk grunts, rubbing at the injured spot. ‘I told you already’ She sighs and moves on.

‘You haven’t’ He mumbles under his breath because really, she hasn’t. He found her pulling clothes out of one of the charity collection bins but she never really said what she was looking for, just said she needed to find ‘It’. He was vaguely wondering if by it, she meant her marbles. He was sure his grandmother was going crazy. He’s a little too caught up in his worrying to notice the boy walking towards them.

His grandmother pitches forward, catches her foot on an uneven concrete tile or something. Luckily the blonde haired stranger is in arms reach and manages to curl slender arms around her before she falls too far. Yongguk gapes at him - a little startled. Completely breathless. The boy is stunning. ‘Thank you, young man’ He hears his grandmother say, her hand on the boys arm. Something pushes him forwards and he is suddenly beside them, hand held out. ‘Thank you’ He repeats though his voice sounds a little pitchy to his own ears. Up close the blonde is radiant. His features are small, cheekbones smooth and his skin is flawless. There’s a sharpness to his eyes and something about the way his lips move when he smiles that reminds Yongguk of a fox - something completely wild but utterly beautiful. He’s a little dumbstruck. The stranger closes his hand around Yongguk’s, shakes hands and it sends thunderbolts down his spine.

Yongguk’s grandmother takes the stranger’s face in her hands then and Yongguk drops his hand as if burnt. The boy doesn’t look scared or even confused - just stares with a mild interest as she maps out his face with her hands and smooth’s his hair down. It suits his pale skin. ‘Almost but not quite’ She murmurs and pulls away. The boy glances at Yongguk but he really has no idea. Yongguk just shrugs.

‘Excuse me, grandmother’ The pretty blonde steps forwards and stops just in front of her. She blinks up at him with owlish eyes and Yongguk watches as she schools his features into a sugar-sweet smile that probably gets him free drinks and snacks from all the old ladies he meets. ‘What are you looking for? Maybe if there is 3 people looking you’ll find it faster’ She smiles instantly, his charms working perfectly. She pinches his cheek affectionately and steps away to look into another bush. Yongguk moves to stand beside the other male.

‘Well its round you see - up close it’s really big but from a distance it’s really quite small’ She stretches her arms out wide then turns to them, holding out a thumb. ‘It’s no bigger than the end of my thumb’ She says and there’s this glassy look in her eyes like when she’s telling stories about Yongguk’s grandfather. He feels something inside melt a little and the blonde boy scratches his head. ‘What colour is it?’ His voice is low, not quite as low as Yongguk’s but it’s smooth like honey and chimes like a bell.  She moves to the next bush and digs her hands into her pockets. ‘White  - bright white’ She sighs, staring off at some point in the distance. Yongguk and the boy start saying whatever comes into their heads.

‘Tennis Ball’

‘Ping Pong Ball’

‘Ice-cream’

‘Marshmallow’

‘Paper Lantern’

‘Light bulb’

‘Himchan’

‘Huh?’ Yongguk stares, confused.

‘My name’ Says the blonde, outstretching a hand. ‘It’s Kim Himchan’ His cheeks are flushed red and the way his eyes crease in the corners makes Yongguk want to hug him. Yongguk rubs his palm against his jeans and shakes hands with the other. ‘Bang Yongguk’ He replies, noticing the way the other’s smile grows a little wider.  Himchan shows no sign of pulling away so Yongguk lets his hand linger against the other’s for a few moments.

‘When I look at it, I see his face’ Sighs Yongguk’s grandmother, one wrinkled hand pressed to her cheek. She’s staring off into the clouds. The two males pull apart though they shift to stand a little closer to each other. ‘Oh!’ Yelps Himchan suddenly, fingers curling around Yongguk’s bicep. ‘The moon!’ Yongguk stares, a little blank and they both turn to the old lady. ‘The moon’ She repeats, more to herself than anything. It sounds like she’s testing the words on her tongue.  She suddenly brightens. ‘Oh silly me, it’s only 3:15’ She laughs carelessly and breezes past them, leaving the two boys dumbstruck.

They simultaneously burst into laughter at the older woman’s antics before Yongguk feels a hand sliding into his pocket. He jumps, caught off guard. Himchan retracts his hands and slips out Yongguk’s phone. The elder boy reaches for it but the other manages to keep it just out of reach. A few moments later - once Himchan’s clicked more than a few buttons, he slides the phone back into Yongguk’s pocket. His hand falls to Yongguk’s shoulder and he smiles. It’s not the one he uses to get free candy but it makes Yongguk’s heart thump a little faster all the same. He presses his lips to Yongguk’s cheek and takes a few steps back.

‘Next time you go chasing the moon, Bang Yongguk, give me a call’
