Thanks! I can't take credit for the idea, that goes to casmomo over at the meme, but I'm glad you like the realization.

Oh, this is getting rather intriguing (I love that word). I don't like how ominous that next to last paragraph is at all, but you're creating a wonderfully suspenseful situation.

The most interesting thing about names, to me, is that you can meet the wrong person with the right name, as you are playing out right now. Confusion and chaos, really. And what if the couple both have common names? You'd think people would start instituting a unique name policy, or have intentionally weird spellings. Why hasn't that happened in this universe, do you think?

I'm not the author, but your comment has brought up an interesting question for me! I wonder if maybe just because one person has someone for a soulmate, it doesn't necessarily mean the other person is their soulmate in return? I've been reading this story thinking both Molly and John have Sherlock Holmes as their soulmate, but Sherlock might have anyone (or no one) on his own hand...now I wonder if I was reading it wrong?

Or Sherlock might even have more than one name. Both hands are gloved = a name on each hand?

percy--that's a really good point. I can't say I'd thought over that particular issue, but in my mind I'd sort of developed the theory when I wrote the section with John's mum (waaay back) that name matches were much more local in previous generations. Kind of as communication has gotten more global IRL, name matches have also gotten international...Harry's Chinese name, for example. So maybe if names were more local, having common names would be less of a problem.

jordan--you're right too! I'm not really a believer in soulmates, so I took this prompt as a challenge. ^_^

I really like this story!! Although I'm confused on one bit...you said the lady in pink's match was a girl named Rachel who died stillborn. But Rachel is a fairly common name...why would she assume some random, stillborn baby was her match? But anyway this story is super intriguing and I can't wait for more!

So, I actually have a whole back story in my head for this situation. Rachel was the daughter of the pink lady's family friends, and after the still birth they recorded that the infant had "Jennifer" on her hand. That's just my explanation though...feel free to draw your own conclusions!

Also, thanks for reading! I really enjoyed reading your comments and hypotheses.

I don't want to say too much on this subject, for fear of giving away the ending...but all will be revealed eventually!
