What? There's a vote today? What's up with a vote in August? If I'd known about it I would have asked for an absentee ballot.

yeah, this actually seemed like a kind of sneaky election for some reason... when i got to keller to vote today i even called my parents to ask if our location had been changed, because there was nothing outside to indicate that i should be there and i felt weird wandering aimlessly through an elementary school (keller is an elementary school now! how strange).
anyway, it's for congress, judges, some county stuff, and a couple of proposals (one being a millage to fund the zoo). sample ballot

1. I hope the millage passes and I'm sad that I can't vote on it, as I also feel very strongly about the Detroit Zoo.
2. Keller is an elementary school now?? All these changes in the school system are very hard to keep track of.

i know, the royal oak school system is a mangled shell of what it used to be. whittier was torn down, keller and longfellow are a frankenschool, god knows what's up with dondero anymore. so much for our childhood landmarks?

but good news! the millage passed, the zoo is safe!

i'd like to think i contributed in a small way toward the success of the zoo millage, without announcing which way my secret and anonymous ballot was marked. i called all of my friends for whom i have phone numbers and told them to vote. but you can probably figure out how i voted anyway...
