And I heartily agree about "Coke"! I was so confused when I moved to the east coast, ordered a Coke and was asked what flavor. Then they brought me a damn Pepsi anyway!
I mean, I just call coke whatever everyone else calls pop or fizz or whatever. That didn't even make sense hahaha. Basically, I don't use Coke to describe Dr. Pepper. If I want Dr. Pepper I'll say Dr. Pepper. An example is like if someone goes to the grocery store and is like "Do you want me to get anything specific to drink?" "Yeah, get some cokes." And they'll come back with like...Coke, Dr. Pepper and Sprite. That would be perfectly appropriate. But if I were at a restaurant, I'd order a Coke or specify the actual drink like "Dr. Pepper." "Sprite" etc etc.

So, you specify when you're at a restaurant, and not other times?
