I know it's been a long time since you posted this message, but the 2nd and 3rd part of your post reminded me of http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3723971/1/Traitor by Serialgal (she has some other good fics you could check out). It's the 3rd part od a trilogy but can also be read as a standalone story.
