The opener is cool, with the sketches matching the locations in the forest perfectly, but then--except for his awesome hair--I very much dislike Glover's character. He's kind of smug and slimy.
Megan looks quite lovely up on the ridge explaining the bodies to David and Colby.
While I get Charlie's objections intellectually, I really do want to believe in the paranormal, and Charlie does tend to be very unbending when there's any other explanation but his mathematical one. Hee, that he figures out the trick with the glasses--or does he.
Obviously the brothers have to disagree here, but I like that Don is open to the possibility that Glover's character could help them.
Love during Charlie and Larry's discussion/argument with Megan on the possibilities of telepathy, when Larry's making a point and Charlie starts to object, Larry raises his hand to silence him. Even though Charlie is behind him and Larry couldn't see Charlie start to speak--a little hint of telepathy, lol?
Mom has spoken! She doesn't like that they are arguing!
I thought that - for Charlie, because he can be SO RUDE sometimes when he doesn't believe in stuff - he was actually kind of polite about not believing in it at first, and then John Glover mentioned his mum and then he started getting really shrill and shrieky about it, so I kind of assumed it was because he was upset about this random guy mentioning his dead mum while they were waiting for the lift, which is fair enough because dude, WHO BRINGS UP SOMEONE'S DEAD PARENT WHILE WAITING FOR A LIFT?
Charlie already had a distrust of Glover's character and but when he brings up Margaret, it's like all bets are off. Charlie's tendency to get defensive about his mother's death comes into it, too, I think because he belatedly seems to realize that he should have been with her more in the last months, but couldn't face the idea of her death so he dove into P vs NP.
I can completely relate with Charlie's defensive stance at the lift. I'd be exactly the same if some freaky-arsed hippy type started talking about my mum out of the blue like that. The untimely death of a loved one, especially a parent, can make you a little 'brittle' when it comes to that kind of thing, especially if you're not prone to believing in that kind of "I sense the presence of your mum" crap in the first place.
As for the rest of the episode - top drawer stuff. And how scary is that Colby!Snarl when he's standing on the guy's neck demanding to know where the girl is? *laughs* Eeep!
Love Peter MacNicol (writer of this episode), but this episode is one of the worst for me. This is also the episode just before the one Rob Morrow directs so he had to be absent
