She’d tried knocking out Cameron to free John and tip the scales in the room - only to be tossed back reflexively, not maliciously. She’d struck the wall, and didn’t move until help arrived.
“You could’ve been killed,” Charlie told her, holding the compress to the back of her skull like the medic had instructed.
“At the time, Charlie,” Amita said, one arm wrapped around him - support, warmth, and stability - “neither of them had broken down a wall. I had only their word that they were robots.” Robots who’re tough as that, from the future…and use handguns?
“So you tried to brain one of them.”
Amita raised an eyebrow. “Brain? So you’re hanging out with me, your brother’s coworkers, and who now?” giving him a smile.
“Well, the EMT said you’ll be okay,” though they would like you to stop by the hospital in a few days to re-check, “provided you don’t do anything strenuous.”
“So, nothing after our date tonight?” she teased. It was fun making him speechless.
