Chinchilla Population Doubles!

Well ... almost doubles.
Yesterday I had seven chinchillas; today I have 12! Ye gods!

Millie, my beige female, gave birth to quintuplets this morning. I had noticed she was looking huge, but thought she might have triplets again. Never expected five of the little blighters. Poor girl ( Read more... )

Awwww congrats to Millie! What a trooper that girl is!

I have a lovely image of all the babies scampering around now - how adorable! *loves chinchillas*

Hope everything goes well with them, and the slightly limpy one does well - though I can't imagine with the care you take of them that he could have a bad future.

Also, this post reminded me of the Black Books related birthplan my friend and I concocted last night, while watching it. We're going to be each other's birth partners - 'I'll be drunk, she'll be on drugs - it'll be just like the old times!'

At this age the babies kind of 'scuttle' rather than scamper. Then when they're older they 'bounce'! :)

If the 'slightly limpy one' does not get better but has no other problems and can manage to get around all right, then I'll probably keep it. I don't know if I could face putting it down just because of a wonky leg. But if it's uncomfortable or unhappy then ..... :(
