old Mac files

A friend of mine has some old Mac computers and hard drives that he wants to recover some files off of. I believe most of the files are in Write-Now, an old word processing program. The computers are from the early 90's and have SCSI connectors (not Firewire or USB). He is not sure whether the computers still work, as they have not been booted up
