06 - Goddamned Death Toll

Death toll. Second time. Either I have the worst luck, or--actually, no. I think I just trust the wrong people. Next time an old guy is being attacked by zombies? No rescue from me.

I'm hoping everyone made it back okay. Denise, Rayne, uh... other guys I didn't catch the name of? Survived okay?

Written, after he's ~brought back~. Even though he's sitting right there. He doesn't want to talk.:v future_games June 22 2010, 00:50:44 UTC
You suck at staying alive.

[He was actually having a glaring contest with it. You just didn't see, Ted. You don't get a yes or no answer just yet, though. You just get a head-tilt and a questioning gaze.]

[The wall won, it always will win, and you know why? Because the cake is a lie. Sorry, Isaac. Ted's tapping his index finger against his lip like a finger-tapping thing. He's having a thought here, Barbossa. Er, Isaac. An important one.] What if we could switch powers, temporarily?

[Dammit. He'll beat the wall someday. Someday. Isaac can't decide how he feels about that idea, and it's obvious by the way his eyes are darting around uncertainly. He's honestly a little suspicious about the whole thing.] I don't want your ability. I don't know how to control it.

[Nuh uh. That wall has nerves of steel that cannot be broken. Ted has already thought about the no-control issue. Catch up to his thinking, painterboy!] It'll be at inmate levels. Most you would probably do is burn someone. Control, or finding it, is part of the idea.

[Secretly, very secretly, Isaac has always wanted a flashier power like Ted's, but stubborn painter is stubborn and has some concerns to voice about this.] ...And if I do burn someone?

nuclear_ted June 22 2010, 18:51:26 UTC
[Damn painter, why so stubborn? Ted ponders these concerns.] The power is tied to your emotions. At first, any agitation would set it off. Just stay calm and you should be fine. [On a ship full of dangerous prisoners, staying calm should be easy. What could go wrong here?]

[To that, Isaac is just going to stare at you like you're stupid, Ted.] ...Do you have any idea what a stupid idea that is? [His inflection on the word "stupid" sends him into a coughing fit during which he takes the time to glare some more.] If you want me to do this, I want it lower than inmate levels. It's no a fair trade otherwise.

[Ted's totally thought this all through. He can't draw, so your painting abilities of ~teh futuuure~ shouldn't hurt him too much. And he doesn't do drugs anyway. So it should be fine, just fine. Right?] How could it not be fair? I'll be experiencing your power at full force. The idea isn't to get you to hurt someone. Lower than inmate levels on radiation wouldn't help. The most you could do would be microwave popcorn in your hand.

[Pfft. Peter and Matt (seriously, wtf?) couldn't draw either, which just pisses Isaac off, but we don't get into that. Isaac is obviously getting tired of arguing and rolls his eyes.] For how long?

nuclear_ted June 22 2010, 20:41:34 UTC
[Ted would be surprised to know Matt had the power, too. (Mind reading=future painting? The hell?) But he likely never will learn that.] A few days. Look, I don't want to force you into this. It's just an idea for us to get to know each other better. If you don't want to, just say so, and it'll never happen.

[Isaac would rage if he knew his floor had been painted over. But, ugh, Ted, you're wearing him down here. He's just surprised you're offering him this over a trip to zero.] ...I'll do it. But if by some chance you do understand why I let Sylar have my ability after this, I want you to lay off of him. He's not your inmate.

[That floor is a slut for any guy who comes along with a paintbrush and zombie-eyes. Ted did consider zero. But, it's complicated. You didn't do anything wrong, just acted stupid.] I... can't promise anything. I'll still hate him. But maybe I won't be so vocal about it. [Awkward moment is awkward. They're just full of those.] Get some rest. When you want to do this, let me know.

[...Yes. It is. It cheated on Isaac who, by the way, will just stare silently at Ted for a moment as though he's about to say something. But he won't. He sighs and turns away to resume his wall-glaring. You won this time, Ted. :|]

Thank you. Ted had the admiral put me in the infirmary.

...I have a feeling he's going to cut off my connection with you.
