This is why I get so damn angry. Don't tell me this is to "protect the innocent." This is just pushing forward your damn agenda, censoring the internet ( Read more... )

This whole thing just pisses me the fuck off. What's the point in censoring such stories? It's the same as saying such things don't exist, sweeping it under the rug and letting people forget. These things happen, they're real, people are going to talk and write about it. Perhaps some of these people writing such stories as rape and such are victims themselves, writing to vent, a form of therapy. To censor these things makes no sense. I doubt very seriously that a rapist or a pedophile would list such things as interests. Wouldn't they want to remain hidden? And those who have such things listed as interests, isn't it possible that they're only interested in the psychology behind such people? I have "serial killers" listed as an interest, but I'm not one, they simply fascinate me. The LJ maintainers really aren't thinking.

Also, a writer may sometimes like to delve into the psyche of such taboo things just to see if they're capable.

Yes, I agree yet again. As a psych major, it's perfectly plausable to write about it. The human mind is an interesting place, and to cut back on it like that is just not a good thing at all. However, it looks like we're winning the battle though.

It is! I'm extremely fascinated by such things as the goings on of the human mind. It's something I'd like to study further. Most of my knowledge comes from experience with others and my own thoughts, so I'm sure my ideas are fairly skewed. However, I think a lot of people's views would be skewed in that way, really.
Indeed it does. I'm SO relieved at that.
