The Strangest Thing
Jen knows lots of things about Priestly that no-one else does.
She knows he's a really great cook, that his speciality is Thai food, and he can make Tom Yum soup to die for. Soup that is so good, it almost makes her toes curl thinking about it. His Prawn Pad Thai comes a close second, and it goes really well with Tiger Beer and the homemade brownies with ice-cream that he always has on hand for dessert.
Jen also knows that Priestly has a soft spot for romantic films. He flat-out refuses to call them Chick Flicks, because that term makes it sound like guys aren't allowed to enjoy them. He'd never admit it to anyone else, and if anyone tried to even go there with him he'd deny it, but Jen knows that The Notebook makes him cry. She also knows if he ever needs a pick-me-up, all he has to do is watch Love, Actually, which makes him laugh and cry, and believe that he really was meant to be born British, all at once.
Then there's the self-help books. Sandra, the girl he dated before Tish, told him he knew nothing about women. So he learned.
Priestly has, as Piper would like to say, "hidden depths". But Jen's the only one who's lucky enough to see them.
The first time they kiss, he's nervous. His hands shake when he holds her face there, thumbs running up and down her cheekbones, and she can't understand why. He dated Tish, for God's sake. That is, until she and Piper finally admitted that no, the time they got caught making out in the supply closet was not on a dare, and it wasn't the first time, either.
Priestly couldn't decide whether to be pissed off, or turned on with that whole revelation. It really did depend which way the wind was blowing on any given day.
But massive dyke or not, Tish did date him for a while, so he's not exactly inexperienced. When she asks him about it, about why he's so damned nervous, he just shrugs and says, "Never kissed a you before, Jen." Which makes her blush, and practically swoon, and if she didn't know him as well as she does, she'd maybe think it was all a ploy to get her to drop to her knees, or something.
But she does know him, and it isn't, so she puts her hands on his waist, and kisses him long and slow and sweet, and tells him she won't give away his secrets.
Especially the one about him being the most decent guy she's ever known in her life.
