Is Facebook losing its shiny?

I noticed something interesting today.. someone commented about how they tried Facebook and they are annoyed beyond reason by it. Which is why I don't have mine either. Well, that and the fact that my sister got all pissy when I defriended her rather than put up with what she was posting publicly to me. But anyway

If it's someone you only know through Facebook, or someone way on the periphery, it can be.

If it's a close relative who texts you to demand to know why they weren't friended, and ONLY for that reason--and has no interest in speaking to you otherwise despite knowing your phone number, email address, and where you live--not so much.

Updating a Facebook status is not the same thing as communicating. It's more like yelling.
