what the hell happened with Masque?

Once there was an erotic manga-style pseudo fantasy webcomic called Masque of the Red Death. I thought the concept was cool in a Gankuotsou/Count of Monte Cristo kind of way.

Wait... Wendy and Richard have a CafePress shop for an unfinished project? What? Wait... WHAT?!
There's so many layers of wrong there. What the hell happened to them?! What happened to the pioneers who self published a compeltely new and unique type of comic on regular basis, setting up their own company to retain creative rights and to offer jobs in the future for budding talents to work on their subjects? They... they run a promising project to the ground and then open a bloody Cafepress shop?!
Is someone spiking their water? These can't be the same people who created ElfQuest and advocated equality in the comic book creating community to get more female talents in. I always respected them for having business acumen combined with being extremely talented, creative and nice people.

Oh definitely! ElfQuest was my first love and Wendy and Richard were the biggest/earliest inspiration in my life as far as art goes.

it's gone from westernized yaoi to 70's porn in almost no time at all. And yeah, the art. All those years I made fun of Barry Blair photocopying his pages and reusing them, and now you don't even need a photocopier, just add another Photoshop layer...
