It was worth it

I'm so tired. My feet are torn. But it was a good day. I went to Tel-Aviv yesterday, met up with my sister, we went to the bookbinder to drop off my two copies and then we bought lots of movies and CDs. I don't think I bought a CD for myself in 6 years. So I now have Michael Buble's It's Time, Almost Famous OST, and Regina Spektor's Begin to Hope. ( Read more... )

music, final project, movies, shopping, yael

A well-done director's commentary is one of the great joys of the DVD era. It can really enhance a good movie.

I'd been considering going to see Wolverine, but perhaps I should just stick with Star Trek instead.

If I could stop one person from throwing money away on that movie, then I did my job. I don't like to be harsh, but really it does not measure up with any of the previous X-Men movies. I wish I could at least say that it's worth seeing on the big screen for the visual effects (why I always prefer to see action packed movies in the cinema) but me and my sister thought they looked really flat and awful, especially Wolverine's blades. Like they didn't have time to complete it ( ... )

But plenty of bragging about Pentagon connections and all kinds of I'm this great anecdotes. Geesh, ego much? The commentary is about the movie not you. From time to time he said a little about this and that shot, but not in a very accessible way. I hope for Transformers 2 someone would tell him to make notes about scenes before sitting down to record his commentary.

Really, they liked it?! Really?! We were force fed everything in the movie, so much montage, not to mention completely useless characters, all of the above, etc. etc. Couldn't agree with you more. The makers completely missed the essence of the X-men, which is OUTCAST. Not who has what powers (also, shooting really fast? really? They couldn't come up with more interesting OCs?). Just imagine how much better the movie would have been if done from the hunted children point of view? They bothered to put Cyclop in it, why not start the movie from his scene - the jarring feeling of that would have engaged us better than the half-baked soap opera at the start. This alone ( ... )

See it for free, or after a fun day of shopping - that's the only way it won't be wasted. I was looking forward to it, too. The trailer looked so good - but the movie is as different from it as night is from day. I'm pretty sure the trailer was directed by someone else ( ... )

Wolverine in 30 seconds... is this what I have to look forward to?! :D

Will get right onto making your Rupert Friend dreams come true, my Rupert Friend Guru. Bit of a hectic week- come the weekend I'll be free to dabble. Did it say what was wrong with the links that I uploaded?

Aaah, Michael Bay... I can't wait for Transformers- it's out on 19th June over here... I may be queueing.
