However, Japanese was voted the least romantic way to say "I love you" … even finishing below Welsh and Klingon.

Speaking Italian is more romantic than Klingon

Alright take that Otaku! Now to start brushing up on Klingon pick-up lines from Worf.

But really? What a ridiculous survey! Why the heck was Klingon part of the generic V-day survey?

links, japan

What's the most romantic?

I'm assuming one of the Latin languages.

Lol, I couldn't remember if it was French or Italian, I've heard it both ways.

I've heard arguments over whether Italian or Romanian was closer. Probably really a toss up between all the Latin derived ones since all changed overtime and got influences from all the migratory groups moving in.

Forgive me for being skeptical of that survey. Were Asian languages other than Japaness considered? Or the languages of native peoples from all lands? Hawaiian can sound quite lovely.

No idea and I'm guessing it was a bull-shit survey to generate some Valentine's Day related news filler.

Hawaiians have the coolest way to say Merry Christmas...Mele Kalikimaka.

And that always reminds me of Christmas Vacation.
