Fuck this city.

I see all these pictures of far away places, and how they depict cities with interesting streets and make me feel like just walking them would be so much more interesting than doing anything here in Orlando. I wonder why though, and I can't seem to answer the question.

Other than "fuck the bullshit," I have nothing else worth saying.

Sounds like you're starting to see through my eyes. I've been asking whats so great about far off places my whole life. If people wanna vacation in Orlando then there has to be a reason why people flock there. People just wish for the unattainable.

"Fuck the bullshit" is a good thing to say.

a lot of it has to do with the architecture. historically, architecture has always reflected the culture of that city, or some aspect of it. it's more of a european concept, but there are still a lot of US cities that pay attention to it. orlandos architecture is also a reflection of it's culture; the cheapest, plainest, most unattractive style of buildings is whats chosen. it makes the city look dull and uninteresting when you have just a bunch of square little boxes with different signs on them. that definitely has a lot to do with what makes this place so unexciting to look at ( ... )

It's hard to put into words how much Orlando sucks compared to Olympia. Biodiesel bus-system, vegan restaurants galore, and lots of cool fukkin people. not to mention- the environment is beautiful here.. not just flat strip malls as far as the eye can see.

GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN.

I dunno man, since I've been here in Bogotá, I really like Orlando. I was reading that book Off the Map - and the girl siad that sometimes people are so busy dreaming about being in other places, that they don't realize the dream they are in. I like Orlando more than Bogotá, but I like Bogotá too. What is so bad about Orlando? Sure repetition and seeing the same shit gets boring, but that happens anywhere. Orlando has good weather, amazing people, really good food (way better than here), and what I consider a really thriving activist scene. Look at all the projects and shit we got in Orlando, all the community work we have helped start. I can tell you, I think we have more things going than any other city in Florida. I'm really stoked to be back, and being away for so long has definetly made me lose the whole "fuck Orlando" attitude.

i totally disagree, i feel like the only thing orlando truly has anything worth mentioning is the 20 or so kids that are in this gigantic circle of friends. it's out of that which spouts everything orlando has going for it.
i hate the weather here. the heat is becoming pretty much inevitable, but i don't like the humidity, and the rain. i don't like living in a swamp.
there's absolutely no culture in this city at all. there's no art districts, there's no underground music venues, there's hardly any catering to local music. the only 'culture' is all the yuppies getting drunk on orange avenue, the same fucking road they all work on. all it is is just a fake plastic city for tourists to spend their money. it's designed like shit. it's impossible for me to live by riding a bike which i also dislike.

i really could go on forever about why this city is so terrible. i would love the chance to get out of here, and when i have enough money, i will.

Well yea dude, Orlando is basically a standard American city. Every city has yuppies and assholes. You need to forget about them , and create your own world within the American city. Can you think of any other city in Florida that has as much activism as Orlando? We got an amazing FNB, Free Grocery Day, Copwatch, weekly vegan potlucks. Sure it comes from the same group of people, more or less, but who cares? Isnt it basically like that in every city? If you live within that group of people, what is the difference? I often times forget that there is an "outside world" when I'm in Orlando, and I kind of like it that way. I don't mean I forget what is going on around me or anything, or the problems in the world. Sure I think about things like that a lot, but I don't focus on the yuppies and the assholes, just make them a source of amusement. What the fuck does it matter to you if there are a bunch of yupies getting trashed and sniffing coke on Orange Ave? Plus, we got a vegan hotdog guy -what other city can say that eh?? In ( ... )
