The great man didn’t move, but his voice sounded, cool, quiet, and very controlled.  Your template was a good man.

Was he?  In the tube, the clone tried to remember, and couldn’t.  He was blank, totally blank.  It… made sense, though.

Your
template was a good man.  You have the potential to be even better.
But if not - he is dead, and we have no replacement yet.  The great man turned away, the other two going with him.

He was left alone - and, secretly, he was faintly relieved.

There was the great man’s voice again, softer, muted. We will see.

His
eyes drifted closed. Life-energy floated through him like dust in a
sunbeam.  He drifted in liquid and darkness, asleep or not yet really
alive.

JOURNAL SAMPLE npc_mod August 12 2011, 02:07:28 UTC

JOURNAL SAMPLE:
[He has the muscle memory for writing on paper, but he’s never actually
done it before.  His letters, shaky and irregular at first, soon tend
to be short, wide, and almost rectangular.  Very serviceable.]
I’ll go by Clathrate.

I’ve
seen the board.  Is anyone really short on labor?  I’m willing to at
least try anything. The Watch looks promising, but I know I should
establish myself first.

[and this is another entry, at a later time, with different handwriting, a different implement, at a different pace.]

What does it mean to be a clone? What is my purpose?

ASPIRATIONS npc_mod August 12 2011, 02:07:51 UTC
Grodin Tierce is someone I’ve always wanted to try - you may recall that I submitted an app for him way back when, though not during the app period - but he really wouldn’t work without AU or memory loss. Way too focused on the Empire, on Thrawn, on destroying the Rebellion. He’s also not my usual kind of character - he’s not a sadist, he sees value in lives and will save them if possible, but he’s not a proper goldheart either ( ... )
