Tuesday, February 6th - Afternoon in the Snow!tia_bostwickJune 9 2008, 05:26:59 UTC
Alright, so Tia had been good and stayed out of the rain right after hols like her mum had said mostly but now there was SNOW and that was another matter entirely. She'd been so excited when it started falling yesterday that she'd really wanted to play in it but by then it was already turning to rain. Today though, today she was going to get some snow time in!
She'd been hoping that the weather would hold all through Herbology and now that it was out, there was still snow! Rather than waste time going back to her dorm and risk it melting just to put a few books away, Tia emerged from the greenhouse and immediately took off running into it with a squeal.

SNOW?!? Oh, you bet Daniel was going to be there. No way he was going to be inside when he could be outside freezing his cute little bum off while playing around and building things like snowmen and making snow angels!! If he had his choice, he'd have skipped classes entirely to spend the entire day in the snow! If he'd done that he would have surely been able to build some type of fort right now, and thus could have attacked his classmates as they came out of class!!
But alas, these were all just thoughts and imaginings he'd had while being forced to attend class. All dreams of a first year boy. Now, however, now he was free to do as he wished and having seen Tia run off, he decided to do the same. If a book got wet or damaged, there was an easy fix with the flick of your wrist(mind you, he would have to find an older year to do it), but snow? Snow didn't last for long! It trumped all.
"We should build a fort!" He called out almost immediately, needing to tell his friend about his brilliant idea.
Re: Tuesday, February 6th - Afternoon in the Snow!tia_bostwickJune 10 2008, 02:44:09 UTC
Tia didn't have a plan per se, she just wanted to run out into the midst of all that white and do something. She'd have been sorely tempted to take a diving roll into it all but just before she went with the idea, Sir Herman let out an annoyed croak from her bag at being jostled about as she ran. Oh. Right. Tia stopped cast about for a good spot to set her pet and the bag down where they'd be safe. Well, here would do, anyway. He'd be plenty warm in there for a bit. She'd had an older year put a heating charm on it expressly to keep Sir Herman comfortable in the cooler weather. He had no reason to complain just because she was capable of maintaining her own body temperature and wanted to play

"Exactly!" He nodded his head enthusiastically as she seemed to receive his very own brain waves, "A spot where we can defend ourselves is exactly what I was thinking, so it has to be perfect!" Daniel started to look around, squinting his eyes to look farther off in the distance. He wasn't exactly sure what a good defensive area looked like but he was definitely going to try his best.
It was a pity that he knew that if they WERE to be attacked, they might not win. Because how could two little first years take the older years?? Daniel really didn't want to think about that, which was why he wanted to set to work on this fort right away. The sooner they had it done the sooner they could fully prepare themselves for a snow ball fight!!
"What do ya say about over there?" He pointed to a spot off to the left, a place where they could build their fort and still have a good view of their surroundings and possible students roaming about.

SNOW!!!
Anya had been waiting so long for this, it seemed, and here it was! Snow. Real, fluffy, pure white snow. Snow that she could play in once class was over, and she did!!! Of course she had to go to her common room to drop off her books, as well as to change into something a bit more warm, but after that she practically ran the whole way to get back outside.
There were a surprising number of students playing about, but none of them were her friends or people she'd want to hang out with, so she started to look around. That is, she first got herself a handful of snow to start forming into a ball(just in case someone attacked her -- she had learned how to prepare herself her first year!), and then she went around looking to find a friend.
Re: Tuesday, February 6th. Late Afternoon.felixdarlingJune 9 2008, 07:29:02 UTC
"Anastacia." Okay, so maybe, just maybe, Felix decided that now was the perfect opportunity to test out his newly learned voice throwing technique. How else was he going to sneak up on the girl and manage to get snow her shirt? Although, really, had he considered the fact that she was indeed a girl and thought before hand, he probably wouldn't have been cruel enough to dump it down the front of her shirt.
Re: Tuesday, February 6th. Late Afternoon.mynameisanyaJune 9 2008, 07:39:05 UTC
Anya knew that voice! That and... well, there was really only one person who called her by her full name. Other than her family members, but her brothers weren't at the school anymore. Duh! So yes, she looked in the direction that she had heard Felix's voice coming from, only to have SNOW go DOWN HER FRONT!!!
Her jaw dropped, hands flailing in the air as the cold ice made its way down her shirt. She started jumping around, continuing to flail and flop about, trying to get it out. It was COLD!!
"Felix!!" She finally whirled around to face him, having gotten most of it out, "What the bloody hell, mate?" In her attempt to rid herself of snow, she'd dropped the snow ball she'd been holding onto and now she was looking around for it. Not to be found. Sad day. So instead she just picked up a handful of the white fluff and threw it at him, not doing nearly as much damage as a snowball. OH well.
Re: Tuesday, February 6th. Late Afternoon.felixdarlingJune 9 2008, 07:41:58 UTC
"You looked too hot," Felix replied, with a laugh. "I thought you needed a bit of a cool down, before all the blokes went mental." He attempted to dart away from the handful of snow, failing miserably. Not that he was too upset about a face full of snow. He simply ducked down, grabbed a handful, and tossed it back. No point in forming a snowball as those suckers could actually hurt if you packed them too hard/threw them too hard.
Wednesday February 14. Afternoonjul_agateJune 25 2008, 21:55:56 UTC
There wasn't really many places to escape the horribleness that was Valentine's day. Not even Jul's mind could just forget what day of the year it was and how she was not spending it.
Sitting in one place meant risking having to watch some couples picnic while the weather was still nice and taking a walk meant risking seeing many couples being cute in front of her.
Overall she was reminded of what day it was because she was supposed to be with Bri on their nightly tutoring session but she couldn't make the one friend she really had miserable along with her...
Jul let out a sigh and decided she'd rather walk towards the pitch and maybe no one would think that it'd be a romantic spot to spend the evening.
Re: Wednesday February 14. Afternoontia_bostwickJune 28 2008, 16:48:36 UTC
Tia's plan really might have gotten more play if she stayed in the castle but now that she was done with class for the day and the weather was decent, well, she didn't see anything wrong with going outside for a little while. She'd already done some hallway work this morning. There could be people outside to spread joy to. And look! Wasn't that Jul? One of the nice Gryffindor players, the one that had let her sit by during the last game? Ooh and they had a game coming soon too didn't they? Well, clearly Tia needed to go see her

Re: Wednesday February 14. Afternoonjul_agateJuly 3 2008, 03:51:15 UTC
Even though Jul should have noticed a running girl she was just too deep into her own thoughts (wallowing self hate/pity?) to see her until she had announced herself. "Oh! .. Hi" Jul smiled warmly at the girl.. Tia, and welcomed the distraction.
Before she could even start talking to her about things that would not make her think too much the firstie had gone and given her a card. A bittersweet smile pressed upon Jul's lips and she turned towards her. "Thanks... I'm sorry... I don't seem to have anything..."
Re: Wednesday February 14. Afternoontia_bostwickJuly 3 2008, 04:36:09 UTC
"Oh, don't worry about it!" Tia continued to smile. "It's not so you have to give anything back I just thought they would be nice," she explained. Tia was handing cards out to most everyone anyway- and without warning. It would be silly to expect anything back. That wasn't the point. "Everyone should get at least one thing on Valentine's Day, don't you think? It's nice to get things when you don't expect them. At least that seems to be how it works," she considered. Her mum always seemed most impressed by the presents Tia gave her for no apparent reason (which was probably why the drawing she'd made years ago as a 'have fun on your trip!' pressie was still hanging up in her mum's greenhouse even though it obviously wasn't very good by Tia's current standards).
"So..." Tia wondered if she was pressing her luck by staying but she felt like maybe the older girl could use a distraction. Or maybe it was just that Tia always thought people could use a distraction from whatever they were at that didn't involve having fun. "Are

It was quite chilly out, though there were only partial clouds in the sky. It didn't look like it was going to rain either, so that gave Tegan enough of an excuse to head outside to get some fresh air. The debate she was dealing with now, however, as she walked along the grounds, was whether or not she would get her broom to go flying.
Or was there something else she could do? There was a group of students to her left that were kicking around a football... that could be fun, even if she had horrible eye/foot coordination. She'd likely end up making a fool out of herself, but that wasn't out of the ordinary. Maybe if she asked politely they would let her join...
She hesitated though, and rather than walking over to ask, she merely stood there awkwardly, watching as the ball was kicked from one person to the next.
Re: Sunday, February 12th, Afternoon.maddox_dixonJuly 1 2008, 02:26:08 UTC
The chilly weather wasn't of much concern for Maddox. Sure, he wasn't about to use heating charms but there were these things called scarves and other sorts of articles of clothing that one could use to keep warm.
Besides, this moving about with a football was great to keep warm. Maddox caught something moving out of the corner of his eye. He glance over the younger kids to see Tegan standing there. One last pass of the ball to Cassie and he stepped away from the group and walked over to say hello to Tegan.
Re: Sunday, February 12th, Afternoon.venusrefinedJuly 1 2008, 02:38:52 UTC
Tegan jumped slightly as she heard her name being called, smiling a bit shyly as she watched Maddox come over to her, "I'm sorry," She apologized immediately, "I hadn't meant to distract you or anything..."
She shouldn't have felt so self-conscious though, because Maddox was one of the nicest blokes around. Or at least he seemed that way to her. Who else would be outside playing football with a bunch of younger years? Not many, thats who. She smiled after a moment, tucking a curl behind her ear as she realized he had asked her a question, "I'm rubbish at kicking a ball, but I guess it wouldn't hurt. Promise you won't laugh?"
Re: Sunday, February 12th, Afternoon.maddox_dixonJuly 1 2008, 03:28:03 UTC
Maddox chuckled at Tegan's jumping and then apologizing. According to him, he was the most unassuming person in the world. "No distraction at all, besides it's pretty hard to keep this lot on any task." He nodded towards the second years as he spoke, glancing over at Cassie who had decided to stop waiting for the ball and was now going after it.
"And I'm sure you're fine, come on!" He grabbed her hand and pulled her along with them. "Oy! You lot, get back to passing. This is Tegan, she's going to play too!"
Sunday, February 12, earlier afternooncassie_carysJuly 1 2008, 19:40:11 UTC
Cassie tugged her pink hat down tighter around her ears as she headed out to the grounds. She'd heard some of her housemates talking about maybe playing some football since the weather wasn't bad, and that sounded like a lot of fun, since she hadn't really done that since the summer. She hoped Ethan and Pim would make it down too, but she hadn't seen them since breakfast, so it was hard to say.
There weren't too many people around yet, and she didn't have a ball, so she sat down next to a tree to try and scope out the area. Hopefully someone would show up soon!
Re: Sunday, February 12, earlier afternoonmaddox_dixonJuly 1 2008, 20:00:59 UTC
Maddox was carrying the ball in his hands as he headed out. Sure he'd talked to a few random students about playing football outside but he wasn't sure if they'd show up. Either way he could just kick it around by himself.
He spotted Cassie sitting by a tree and wondered if she was here to play. So he walked over and sat down beside her. "Here for the football, Cassie?" Yep, he definitely knew who she was. After all, she was on the Quidditch team. Probably the best of the younger players, actually.
Re: Sunday, February 12, earlier afternooncassie_carysJuly 1 2008, 20:07:45 UTC
"Yes!" Cassie said cheerfully, grinning widely at Maddox. "I haven't played in ages, it sounded like so much fun! I mean, if that's okay, I heard people talking about it so I figured I'd come see what was going on and everything."
She was surprised that he would just sit down and start talking to her. He was, after all, a much older student who she figured wouldn't really know who she was. But then again, she knew lots of upper years now. Well. Maybe just the ones on the Quidditch team. But still, that was pretty cool.
"It's okay that I play too, right?" she asked, slightly anxious.
Re: Sunday, February 12, earlier afternoonmaddox_dixonJuly 1 2008, 20:26:30 UTC
"Well, only if you're good enough..." Maddox eyed her as though he were sizing her up. Then he broke into a grin and laughed. "Of course you can play. Quidditch players play for free, you know."
He tossed the ball in the air a few times before turning back to Cassie. "So you've played before? Football, that is."
