Still expensive ... but I'm wondering if a really good dress shoe might be worth investing in. I've had cheap shoes, I've had mid-price shoes, I've had fairly expensive shoes that all wore out in the same amount of time (about a year.) Just today I picked up my most expensive pair at the shoe repair place, where the beat-up heels were resurfaced in some way.
I promised myself a pair of expensive shoes if I met a certain goal. I'm ... 37.5% of the way there.
Those, even on sale, are almost twice my most-expensive expensive shoe budget in the history of me buying what I consider to be expensive shoes. They'd have to be hella comfortable.
Oh, I agree: the most expensive pair I ever bought was slightly above half that price (on sale), and I felt guilty for months. Still kind of do, as they immediately became "too good to wear for ordinary occasions" shoes.
No, a pair like this would be bought for their own beauty and as a conversation starter, to be used as a form of self-expression. I'd like to be the woman who wore these shoes.
That's why I think they'd make a suitable bribe for long-term behavioral modification, for which part of the point is that you wouldn't ever get that reward in the ordinary course of things.
