At end of Day One of vacation, on Day Two of Adrenaline-Crash Cold (tm. earlgreytea68). I can't sleep, but have no energy. I'm about to take another dose of generic second-tier decongestant. I'd recommend it if I had any idea what brand it was ( Read more... )

Our cats never go outside but we've had a cold go around once or twice. The vet has told us it's possible for us to track it in ourselves if we're unlucky. Also, there is a virus cats can get that sort of goes dormant or something and flares up in times of stress, so they can seem to be getting a new cold when they really aren't. We thought Moly might have that, because she used to get cold symptoms every so often for no apparent reason. It's been many years now, though.

As long as he's eating normally he'll probably be okay. Cats can get really difficult about food when they can't smell.

I hope you both feel better soon!

He does seem to be eating all right. He's just sort of subdued, spending a lot of time in his carrier (he's taken a liking to it) or in other safe, out-of-the-way places. I guess I'm used to him coming up to me several times a day and meowing urgently for petting. If he did it today, he only did it once.

Oh no. So sorry about the nose-bleed, hon. Do you happen to have a humidifier in the house? (probably not likely, but worth asking all the same)

No, no humidifier, but I did have a couple of things of saline spray. I don't know that my nose is dry so much as very very irritated. It rained pretty steadily yesterday and this morning, so the air was probably already fairly humid.

The nosebleed was a small one and stopped quickly, so no worries. :)
