Of all of the things that Jack did for the ministry that were not his job, this was definitely not even remotely close. Going to Diagon Alley to a blasted greenhouse to drop off some papers and pick up samples of Fanged Geraniums for the bloody International Magical Trading Standards Body was not in his job description. He was beginning to tire of this. He'd been at the ministry over a year and still he was nothing more than a glorified messenger pigeon. And now just about every department was bouncing him back and forth using him for any menial task they were too busy to do themmselves ( ... )

Jack grinned a little to himself and absently rubbed his cheek as he watched Addie move away to help the customer. He'd actually pulled out that important top secret business thing? He supposed anything could be believed with a serious tone of voice and some imposing wax seals.

In truth, the ministry just wanted to sample the current crop of fanged geraniums from different greenhouses around the country to make sure they were up to trade standards before the busy season started. Or something like that. Jack wasn't really bothered with details. It wasn't even his department, remember?

His smile stayed as he watched Addie and absently flipped through the papers in his hand. She really was one of the most attractive girls, women, he'd ever known. At least in his eyes. And her personality... wow. Shit, cool it Jack he reprimanded himself mentally. You're not in the market.

With the customer gone, Addie turned back her full attention to Jack and gave a small lopsided smirk. With her playful mood she moved in so close to him that her lips were almost touching his again. "So where were we?"

She paused before pulling back and then smiled broadly. "Oh yes. Fanged Geraniums. How exciting."

"Mmm," Jack answered, a smile still gracing him lips. "Absolutely fascinating, yes." Without thinking much of it he reached out his free hand, brushing his fingers gently over her wrist. "You can get them for me, yes? No need to bother your boss..."

Addie's eyebrow quirked up as she felt his hand lightly over her skin. unfair. Of course in tactile situation Addie tended to move into autopilot and she moved back towards him.

It even took a few seconds for her to register he had asked a question and was quite possibly looking for a response. "Hmmmm... probably not."

Her body was seriously starting to question how much more teasing there would be and if there would be any reward if this continued. She bit at her lip and faltered a bit (who knew that young Jack, which she would always think of him as, could apparently illicit this emotion from her. "What's in it for me though?"

"For you?" Jack looked at her a bit quizzically, baring his teeth in a playful grin. "You, Miss Blackwood," He slurred the name slightly, somehow making a perfectly respectable address seem dirty, "get the ultimate satisfaction..." Here his lips brushed hers, every so slightly, before pulling back a few centimeters, "of knowing you've done your duty and helped your country."

Possibly because he used her last name (and therefore broke her out of her trance), and possibly without even realizing she was saying it she answered him immediately. "What a tease."

She pulled away from his body and playfully slapped his shoulder. "What do I care about my country. You're the one that picked to work at the ministry. I'll never do anything of the sort."

Addie almost snorted. "Duty.. that's how you get the stupid people to follow you." She turned and started moving back to the fanged geraniums (the further back you went the more dangerous the plants got). She didn't pause but merely expected Jack to follow.
