Okay I'm actually going to attempt to write this. Which is a miracle in itself. This might be slightly crappy but here goes nothing.

Curled up in Arthur's bed after (rather mindblowing actually) sex Merlin broached a subject he'd been a little nervous about actually.
"Arthur"
"Mmmmm" Arthur murmurs against the back of Merlin's shoulder
"I need to go back to Ealdor"
"What! Why?" Arthur half sat up, peering at Merlin slightly worriedly
"It's my mum's birthday. And they'll be bringing the harvest in, but without Matthew and...Will they might need my help"
"Oh" Arthur didn't sound particularly happy "Will you be staying long?" Arthur mentally kicked himself for that remark, he sounded slightly pathetic.
"I don't know." Because he doesn't, if they don't need his help with the harvest he could be back in a couple of days, if they do then it could be a couple of weeks before he came back "I'm sorry"

Arthur's head returned to where it was before, mouth close to Merlin's shoulder.
"Don't be. I understand" I understand, but I don't have

really great story. True, merlin mother will always come first. Love how much Arthur is missing merlin already. God, Camelot Guard is pathetic, even in the show morgana can slip out in the middle of the night wearing bright red cloak and merlin always manage to slip and meet the guard and people escape from the dungeon! For a small country Ebia strategy is really smart!
