At first he'd been the one in charge, because he was the prince, Merlin was the manservant. It wasn't hard to guess who bent who over a table and called them a girl and who screamed very loudly in pleasure about it. No, at first he;'d been in charge, and it was no doubt that he'd enjoyed it.

Then he'd killed the unicorn, and while he hadn't changed anything, hadn't said anything, for weeks, Merlin had known, had seen him when he was looking out over his people, when he would hold a cup of water and stare down at it, when he shied away for golden goblets for a bit, Merlin had known. He wasn't completely stupid.

Of course he couldn't say anything about it, couldn't ask, Merlin had shown up one day, sat in Arthur's chair and quietly told Arthur to remove his clothing.

He wanted to, but he couldn't not just like that.

"I think not."

"Arthur." Merlin chided, quietly, and tapped his fingers against the chair. "Take off your clothing."

Arthur stomped over and pointed his finger into Merlin's face, "I am the prince, you are the servant

Part Two

"Mmm hmm." Arthur sighed, "hurry up."

His vision was suddenly blocked and he pulled away. "What are you doing?"

"Blindfolding you. So you have to listen to me." Merlin replied, cheerfully, and quickly knotted the cloth behind Arthur head.

"Fine." Arthur gritted and rested his head on his crossed arms. "Go nuts."

Merlin's arm came to rest on his lower back, probably to pin him in place, hah, and he sighed. Merlin didn't warm him up, like Arthur did when he spanked Merlin, just hit him full-force, and he hit hard. Arthur pushed himself up and Merlin hit him again

Arthur hadn't cried since he was a child and Merlin didn't stop until he remembered how he'd felt, with a broken arm, lying in the courtyard and sobbing in the cold, how his eyes had burned, and his face felt all full, and all his skin hurt. He grit his teeth more, but then Merlin went back over what must be the throbbing red heat of his bum and repeated that he cared if Arthur trotted off or not, and suddenly his eyes were burning and his face was full of snot and all his skin hurt, and his stomach forced little sobs out of him, and Merlin refused to stop, kept going until Arthur was swearing a blue streak and begging for it to stop and crying like a damn girlMerlin stopped and Arthur didn't remember Merlin removing the bonds from his arms and legs, but he must have, because when he took the blindfold off, he was free to pull away from Merlin and curl up on the side of the bed

Wow, this was excellent. I loved the emotion behind it. It wasn't just spanking for the sake of it, Merlin had his reasons for doing it. I also liked that it wasn't really about punishing Arthur for the mistake he made, that is killing the unicorn, but for putting himself in danger. I also loved that Arthur stayed Arthur throughout. It would be so easy to have him out of character in something like this but he was spot on. Great job.
