So, Starz's press release has answered many people's most dyingest question about Torchwood: The New World, the name of Gwen & Rhys' baby. It's Anwen. Presumably a girl, since that's a girl's name, meaning "beautiful", "pure", or "white".

I discovered that upcoming Torchwood writer Doris Egan has a livejournal, and found this amusing anecdote there

You also may or may not know that Power of the Dark Crystal, movie sequel to The Dark Crystal, is coming in 2011. The story follows an outcast Gelfling named Kensho and a girl of living fire named Thurma as they seek to reignite the sun inside the planet Thra with a shard of the crystal.

I don't know whether to be enthralled or horrified by this news....

As in, why do they feel the need to make sequels out of every classic? It's almost as horrible as remakes, imo.

Depends on many factors, including the involvement of concept people from the original, which in this case they have.
