[Schuyler is actually delighted to see all the Christmas decorations. Cordelia never went overboard this way and when she and Oliver were on the run, they weren't in one place long enough to have a real Christmas. That is, she's delighted until she accidentally brushes up against some of the silver tinsel. Now she's just annoyed and also sparkling

[Derek runs a hand back over his head and takes another step back. He reaches up and pulls down the mistletoe from the ceiling.]

You're saying you think you're a vampire?

No...I don't think. And actually only half vampire.

[She looks up at him, mouth open slightly so that he can see, no fangs. She lets her fangs descend for a moment then lets them ascend again. She pushes the sleeve of her sweater up to show an intricate pattern of blue veins underneath her skin. Very different from a human's]

And my blood is bright blue and my temperature usually runs anywhere from 2 to 18 degrees higher than a human's.

No! Absolutely not. It's strictly against the Council's code to kill any human. And if I were to kill someone? They'd burn me alive. Literally. I don't even want to kill anyone. Half the time I feel incredibly guilty about having to bite a human at all.

So I'm not... gonna become one too, am I? I mean what are the side effects?

No. I can't turn anyone into a vampire. No one can. It's just a myth.

[She hesitates because this is the part she hates explaining. She never did to the guy in Mexico because she was going to be gone so soon]

You'll be...attracted to me. Protective of me. You'll want me to do it again. You'll want to be around me.

[She looks up at him then looks away quickly]

Eventually it will all fade away as long as I don't do it again.

I've only been here a little while and at home it was my best friend who I've known since I was little. Here--I don't know what I'm going to do.

Even if I did, it wouldn't sustain me. It's not all about the blood, it's the life force too and human life force and animal are different. It just wouldn't work.
