Plan [38] : [and the air is warming up now]

It seems the next test is upon us. Even if we have yet to hear from the Malnosso, it would be best to assume this to be their work as well.

If any of you have a working relationship with earth or water magic, or any variation thereof, please speak up.

You really think this is the Malnosso? I mean, I know it feels weird but I think we were due for a storm of some kind...

I've been working with water magic as of late. Why?

I'm not certain, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, at this point. Besides, they're due to interfere with our lives somehow -- it seems a little off-schedule, but it's high time regardless. If Luceti's spring showers constitute black clouds and the kind of feeling I've got right now, then we're in for one hell of a late spring.

I'm not certain, quite yet. I'm trying to get a stock of where the power lies, so I can try to come up with something accordingly.

Could this really be related to the Malnosso?

I've been practicing my magic, though I seem to be better with water magic than earth. What do you need me to do?

It may be, Stella. It's difficult to say, truly, but those aren't friendly-looking clouds. Even if it's just a case of severe storms, to prepare for it as a Malnosso attack and act accordingly won't be wasted ... and these houses, it seems, aren't built to withstand any sort of flooding at all. I would rather be overprepared than under, mostly.

And ... I'm not certain, yet. If I can get a number of the people willing to help, it would very well help determine the best course of action.

They do feel rather ominous, don't they? Senel told me that he arrived in time for an experiment that had a flood, and even though the village was small at that time, there were still deaths. This concerns me as well. If it turns into a flood, I can take care of myself, but everyone else... Do you think the community housing buildings would be enough? The problem is the amount of people in this land...

Really now? What do you have planned?

Yeah, they kind of do. I've heard similar stories; Albert was there for that, too. I'm honestly not certain; I greatly dislike the idea of pushing the entire population into what could essentially become a series of death traps, should there truly be a flood like the one previous. I don't know how much to trust the construction of the things, especially if we overpopulate them -- not to mention how to feed the population if such a flood were to last longer than a few days.

I haven't got anything solid at all worked out, yet -- I don't know what I have to work with. Do your abilities with water include freezing, do you think? The simplest thing I could think of would be to erect some sort of barrier ...

What about?

Your ... abilities. This might be forward, but you seem to have a rather strong connection with earth; well, sand, it seems.

How strong are those powers?

They're weakened in speed, but I haven't run against an upper limit in mass yet.

It would be easy to build up the riverbank to prevent flooding as long as I can get close enough

That's what I was hoping to hear.

If such a thing could be fortified with ice ...

I offer my ice powers.
Though, if the river really starts flooding, my limits only allow me to buy others more time.

I am unhappy to admit my ignorance as to the extent of your power. Could you ... I don't know, somehow freeze the excess water into a sort of wall to keep it at bay?

frostbit May 29 2008, 01:30:05 UTC
That seems simple enough. Earth would be best for a wall, but I'll do what I can.

Fortunately, we have someone with just that ability. Or even to fortify an earthen wall with ice to give it more strength? A break in any levee we raise would be just as dangerous -- if not more so -- than the flood itself, I would think.
