m1 help!

I'm a total n00b when it comes to this, and I'm totally stuck. It literally took me all day till this minute to figure out to m1 in knit (by picking up the bar). I'm going to be starting a pretty simple triangle shawl. Here's where I run into problems ( Read more... )

Sometimes the pattern gives directions for how they want you to do the "M1" in either purl or knit. I've never had to do a M1 on a purl row...but I know there's a way to P1 through the front and back (there's also a knit version of that, too) and I would assume that there's a way to M1 by picking up the bar on a purl row. No idea how, though...

I would check the directions to see how they want you to do the M1...

I've never had to do one of these and I've been knitting for three or four years. I looked at the link someone else posted and ended up even more confused.
