Warning: Those 100% happy and content with the last two episodes should probably mosey along. *pats heads* Mosey on, now. Nothing to see here. ( Read more... )
LMAO Your words in red at the beginning really cracked me up. I'm not going to read as I am one of THOSE people. Just wanted to let you know that you made me laugh. :D *moseys along*
Hee! Glad you liked it--I was going for humor there. To be honest, I've liked this season more than last season so far--so there is that. I really, really liked the first two--but I've had issues with the last two for various reasons.
I'm glad to hear you're back to loving it 100%! That's a very good thing and I hope that by mid-season, things will make more sense to me.
I'm never 100% happy with the show, to be honest. I notice a lot of what you're calling up. I don't want to read Mo's reviews, though, because even though I'm not 100% happy, I'm still entertained. I think that it's very easy for me to expect our show to always be better, match seasons from the past, build on its own history, all of that

Well, ya know, I've really liked this season much more than last season and, for the most part, I've been entertained. But, and here's where the difference comes in, not any more than I have been watching House. Two episodes into House and I'm as equally entertained by House except without the emotional turmoil because its never been anything more than a TV show I watch anyway. I love House, but I've never felt passionate about it like SPN

I'm pretty much with you 100%. I've done a number of conference papers on the show - and they are all centered on the first 5 seasons. I am still enjoying watching Jensen - and the JP and JB - but I'm also with you on too much killing has ruined the impact. I really liked Cas. I liked that storyline. But they wasted him so badly last season that I'm happy for his sake that they let him go. But mostly I'm missing the wonderful writing as you are. It makes me really, really appreciate that the person who really pulled all of this together and made it special was Kripke. Gamble just isn't up to it. Few people are, and very, very fewer to the level of Kripke. I'm at the point where I don't care if I miss the show and have to catch it on DVR or stream it. And I'm also at the point where I don't want to see JA in particular have to go down with sub-par material. I want to see him be able to go on and do other things and start his family. I like that he's gotten to stretch his wings and direct and I'd like to see more of that... but I'm

Yes, I didn't appreciate Kripke nearly as much then as I do now. I had a bad feeling when he announced he was stepping back and I guess I was right to worry. Obviously, it was him that was the one who made it the show it once was. I think Sera may be good at writing an episode here and there--but she does not have what it takes to oversee the whole show. She just doesn't seem to have the vision to pull it all off.
I still find myself wanting to watch the show, but if someone was to make plans on a Friday night and I had to DVR it, I wouldn't be upset about it either--and Grimm is something I'm interested in checking out.
Really, the Ackles' effect is the biggest difference between SPN and the other shows. If not for him (and past seasons), at this point, it'd just be another show I watch. *shrugs*
I freaked as soon as I heard Kripke was stepping away. In fact, when Kripke didn't show up to the 100th episode party, I knew something was very wrong...and that's when I started to worry. We got enough of his vision of the end to satisfy me, but I know it didn't tie up exactly as he wanted either. Grimm looks like an SPN rip off to me. I'm excited for Kripke's TWO new shows!
