Weapon of choice

Okay, this may seem of little consequence, but my curiosity it piqued.  Sheppard and team, along with most of the military contingent, carry the P-90.  It an easily recognizable weapon.  However, I've noticed that John and various other marines carry a different weapon from time to time.  It's a much larger or higher caliber weapon.   I'm sure they ( Read more... )

Let me find out..I've been very curious myself. Its not the same type of weapon John used in "Rising" and Vega in "S&R"..those are heavier machine guns.

I know he used it in "First Contact"..I just need a larger pic.

I hope to return with an answer.

I noticed he was using a different gun, too. I think its a rifle instead of a sub-machine gun (which is what the P-90 is.) I think maybe its an M-16 or Car-15 (both automatic rifles), but I don't really know guns all that well, so take that with a grain of salt. ;)

You know a great deal more than I do. :) I know he carries his nine-mil and the P-90 most of the time and that's about it. Thanks for the info! :D

Thank you, that would be great! The first time I really noticed him using it was when Jackson and McKay were taken from Atlantis by the rogue Asgard in the suit. Erm, well I think it was the same one.

Since then I've seen him with it numerous times. I don't know why such a trivial thing stands out to me but it does. I guess it's because I don't know what it is.

Thanks again!

And the answer is.......

The Infection gun is a Heckler and Koch G36. It's the same gun in "FC' except that one had added optics on top and a secondary pistol grip added on the rail in front of the magazine well.

Thanks to tashabearat military_beta.

Here is a link I dug up on the weapon:

Woohoo!! You totally ROCK! Great information and links!

Ahem...reeeallly nice pics too. John Sheppard + big guns, in kick-but mode.........MMmmmmmm.

Seriously, though, excellent information. I don't know why I do it, but there's a need to 'find out' the details like what kind of gun is used, helicopter flown, medical equipment used, so on and so forth. Its interesting and a great learning experience. It helps with the visualization aspect while reading fic too. :D

Thanks again!!!
