I had a kind of fabulous academic exchange with Mike Harris on the Odes of Solomon based off of my recent entry, and tying into the chapter he is currently writing for his dissertation, which partially deals with the Odes. The week ended nicely: Thursday's talks with my Jesus class on the crucifixion accounts tended toward giving them a lot of basic New Testament background information, and pointers in the sort of critical approaches or questions historians ask of the texts, and the growing list of reasons people took them seriously in the 20th century from the high ( Read more... )

It's been the usual whirlwind with end-of-the-semester business. My students with their term papers for the Experience of Grace course have been asking for last-minute meetings, and those have been great fun for me as I get to glimpse previews of what they are doing with the various books that they selected for their more independent project.
