Theological Notebook?: OH, WOW!!!!!

Apr 17, 2005 23:58

This is BIG: potentially even conclave-big! One of my fellow theologians just sent me the following news item--the kind of thing I as an historian absolutely lust to hear:

From The Independent:
Eureka! Extraordinary discovery unlocks secrets of the ancients
By David Keys and Nicholas Pyke ( Read more... )

gnosticism, theological notebook, computing, archaeological, classical studies, gospels, random, books, historical, manuscripts

Drat. The basics:

The catholic predicts that sharp and anachronistically prescient fun will be made of Martin Luther.

Kristen/frey_at_last (who you really should get to know, because she's going to be the next CS Lewis and may be the smartest person I've ever met) predicts that Christ will tell us where babies go.

I note that many articles suggest the lost Gospels "may be up to 2000 years old," which would put them around AD 5 when Christ was 12. Meaning that they'll be full of him killing birds and children for fun, learning the wisdom of the swamis in India, and taking summer vacation in England.

Oh, those gospels are already found and for sale....

Frey At Last is a lass? I'd always thought [him] a guy....
