Musical: Over The Rhine's Show; Distracting Sex

Nov 30, 2007 09:13

Over The Rhine appeared at the Miramar Theatre in Milwaukee on Wednesday night, the 28th of November, and in the more than a decade that I've been taking in their shows, I think this was the most fun I'd ever had seeing them live. They were in a pretty giddy mood, themselves, light-hearted and relaxed. I was there with Mike and Donna, Dan and Amy ( Read more... )

I have shrieked in the Lounge twice in five minutes. The second time was in laughter because of this post.

:-)

Yay! I think I can assume that it wasn't the concert review.... Did you have to explain yourself to anyone?

*laughs*

No, because 1. it was a smaller shriek than when I found out about my paper acceptance, which required a LOT of explanation and 2. fewer people were around at that moment and 3. I am just weird, I guess, and so few people notice anymore...

1) Great post title.
2) Thanks for introducting me to OTR's music - I haven't gone too deeply into their catalog but "Ohio" and the song about Jesus in New Orleans are part of my regular rotation.
3) I completely hear you on opening acts. Keep it short and sweet, opening acts. Learn to tell the difference between polite applause and "encore!" cheering.
4) That said, I once saw Devotchka open a show for another band and they brought down the house. That's what happens when your band is a Tuba or an Upright Bass, a violin or a guitar or a theremin, and some of the best drums ever.

You are most welcome! You're making it sound like I need to reciprocate and check out this Devotchka group. I do think you might like these latest efforts of OTR. If you go to their website, you can play their "radio" and listen to the entire album at your leisure to decide whether or not to incorporate it to your playlist.

That sounds about as awesome as the show we saw in Chicago.

I wondered if you were catching this tour. You're one of the Most Likely To on my flist.

Life is so much better in detached houses. Unfortunately, not often an option in the city.
