Personal: A Line From a Letter From a Student

Jan 25, 2007 02:00

Heh. I just opened this note from a student, which opened by paying me a kind compliment, followed by one of the funnier (and more ambiguous) lines I've read in quite a while:I wanted to tell you how awesome today's lecture was. It was one of the best lectures I've had that didn't come from my Dad.

moments that justify my life, theological notebook, teaching, quotations, marquette, students, personal

I know! Great phrasing, but she seems totally cool. Wanted to talk about some of the implications of the material in greater detail.

There's a good vibe to this semester, indeed. My students REREAD. And READ AHEAD. And reconsider their assumptions. And make Latin jokes.

Awesome feedbackm actually - assuming the student wasn't being sarcastic. And, yes, it brings a smile to my face, too. There is an innocence about this.

Yes, she was being straight-up: just wanted to talk over some of the material in more detail.

Hee, that's awesome. magdalene1 January 25 2007, 23:30:49 UTC
I had a student tell me today that I'm "much hotter when I don't wear my glasses."

I will be wearing glasses the rest of the semester.
