the jet d'eau! i haven't seen that in (let me count) 32 years. you make me nostalgic for geneva. we lived there for part of a year, while gerry did research at CERN. cotes du rhone cost about 35 cents a bottle at the local Coop in those days. good stuff!

It really is a great town: I can totally imagine all the things that would have made it great for you two to have that extended time there together.

Yay! And that was what I thought was the dullest entry, so I'm glad someone found it entertaining or interesting! :-)

Wasn't that museum awesome? We went there sort of just to kill time, never realizing how amazing it would be. I'd visit the city again just to go back to the Red Cross museum.

Absolutely. For this, I had your - and then Erik's - recommendations to take it in, but I had the kind of experience you're describing when I was in Carthage. Our host asked us if we wanted to follow the signs and go down to the ancient harbour; we expressed no enthusiasm about the dull-sounding idea, but this was lost in translation and we went driving down that road instead of the other option - and it turned out to be the most fantastically interesting archaeology I saw that day. Yes, I'd love to go and finish my tour of the Museum!
