As a noted philosopher has argued in America, there is "superficial conflict but deep concord between Christian belief and science" and "superficial concord but deep conflict" between science and atheism. We've been kept apart more by the work of journalists and playwrights than by the most informed thinkers: I like opportunities for fields of knowledge like our to cross-fertilize.

I was surprised to hear from you! I hope your journey through America has started well.

Loved the difference between hope and optimism. Kind of reminds me of the difference between joy and happiness.

I watched the Mission years ago (I was attempting to start a monthly "movie and discussion" at a church I was attending), but can't remember that shot.
