I'm not a dude, but I would've told her that she was hot. I agree with Lee, the term "gorgeous" is usually just one of those things that people say to make you feel better about your self-image (even though you may have genuinely thought she was gorgeous)....but you can't go wrong with "hot". You can go into some details too: i.e. beautiful smile, nice hair, carry yourself with grace, etc. (although I wouldn't recommend saying something like "nice boobs").

Thanks, Carla. You're right; even I've sometimes tossed around "cute" or "beautiful" just to make people feel better. "Hot" it is. =)
