Like all screws, faucets turn on by twisting to the left (loosening) and off by twisting to the right (tightening).

I have encountered ONE pair of faucets that worked differently in my life, and I still don't know how they did it. And I may be getting them confused with the evil set that had the cold on the LEFT.

Convention is a powerful ally here, Will.
