Obama, Zima, Peanuts

I heard Zima was being yanked, so I bought some tonight. I hadn't tried it before. It's OK. It's got a cool name and was a part of popular culture for a while (the item on this list that gets my attention was its mention on Babylon 5). [The problem with Babylon 5 is that it's so good that it spoiled my appetite for just about anything else on TV. ( Read more... )

Battlestar Galactica! Babylon 5 was great, but BSG is amazing.

Putting the poll numbers aside, it's amazing how much McCain holds his own supporters in contempt

In fairness, the article is quoting an employee of the McCain campaign, not McCain himself, right? Regardless of who wrote it, though, it's awfully insulting. I know that, if I were in that last category, I'd be offended by being called a "Walmart woman." But then, I've always thought the same about "Joe Six-Pack." I'm surprised this guy didn't just come right out and identify racists as one of the key sub-groups.

Yes, it was an employee of the campaign that said that. I'm glad you pointed that out, because I consciously did not when I wrote the post, and I probably should have. I just feel / felt that he's complicit in this kind of insidious social profiling. Of course, he probably hasn't had much say in his own campaign - it's widely believed that even the pick of Sarah Palin was forced upon him, and he'd only met her once for a quarter hour before she was announced as the VP candidate.

The thing is, though, that while McCain isn't responsible for what his employees and supporters say, he seems to be quite reluctant in criticizing their offensive comments. And that DOES reflect badly on him.
