TIL xclip

Jul 07, 2011 12:12

for all my nerd friends:
while trying to find a shortcut to a problem, I happened to learn something new today.
It was the unix/linux command xclip
How did i not know about this?!?! so many uses.

so long [shift][ctrl]-c, from now on it's xclip -i file.txt or xclip -o >> newfile.txt

linux

I don't know what this means, but I'm happy for you nonetheless.

lol, it's ok. It's just a functionality that i wanted for a long while but never knew was right under my nose. I'll probable use it at least a few times a day and save myself an extra 5 seconds each time. "meh" for most unix nerds, but i got excited when it actually worked like i wanted it to.

Never knew about that one either. But it's been a while since I used an actual X session. I do everything via putty.
