Go check out The Hunger Games from the library. I think you'd like the bleak outlook on America's future. I'm halfway through the second book now and it's depressing, but good. They read very quickly.

They are "teen" novels set in a post-apocalyptic America where the country is split into 12 districts and every year a boy and a girl from each district have to fight each other to death in a big arena. I'm totally grooving on it.
