The days of peace are at an end...

There is a cockroach in my apartment. *buries head in couch and hides* I live alone...*whimper* It was on the wall and I sat and looked at it and contemplated how to get rid of a two inch long insect without dying myself, and just when I had decided that was pretty much impossible the darn thing *flew* and now I don't even know where it is ( Read more... )

:-/

Looks like my Giant Winged Cockroach of Doom invasion has spread eastward.

Fortunately, cockroaches are absolutely harmless, except for the emotional damage they leave in their wake.

My weapon of choice is Raid Max, which supposedly kills the thing instantly, but in practice takes a minute or so (during which our friend the cockroach is probably not so happy with the proceedings, and may be running around in a frenzy).

I say, run screaming "ROACHZILLA" through the streets.

*hug* I know the terror those things induce! Be strong! Be brave! I stand with you in the worldwide community of Giant Winged Cockroaches of Doom victims! We shall prevail!!!

Hee hee...the Roachzilla approach would be quite interesting. I wonder if that would be a good way to meet any brave Japanese guys who could come and fix the problem for me. ;)

Hmm...I wonder where one buys anti-cockroach weapons of mass destruction in Japan.

Standing a little stronger in the knowledge that I have an entire worldwide community standing behind me. We shall prevail indeed! ;)

I know!!! And I don't even know where it went...except that the "get rid of cockroaches" website I saw says that where there is one out where it's visible there are more hiding. Gah...I hate cockroaches even more than spiders.

But it's so satisfying to smush them. Do not deny yourself that satisfaction.

But then I have to get close to it! And clean up all the cockroach guts!

Oh, dear. Well, you could do the trap it with a box or a jar, slide piece of thin cardboard underneath, drop in toilet and flush thing... are cockroaches too big to flush? If they are you might have to just suck it up and smush it, unless you've got a dumpster or something handy to toss the thing in (maybe tape up the box if going that route). Or bribe someone to do it for you...

Not to big to flush, praise God. But that also involves getting very, very close to said cockroach and having fine motor skills while so close to it...which really might mean certain death.

The bribing someone isn't too bad of an option...except that I don't know where the darn thing is...knowing my luck, it will keep showing up whenever said bribed person leaves.

Yuck, cochroaches!!!! YUCK!!! I hates them, they are evil for they suck a bit of soul right out of your body and make you shiver in disgust.

They sell cock roach dust here. The roaches eat it, take some home for the rest of the 10,000,000.00 member family, and never comes back. See if they have the equivalent where you are.

Alanna says "Not baking soda or baby powder, cockroach dust". She seems to think you have problems with labels.

Would I have problems with labels? *innocent grin* I have gotten a little better with them as my Japanese reading improves...

I hate cockroaches too. And seeing one in my house and then reading about them online to try to figure out what to do about it has only increased my hatred, I must say.

Guess I'm going to have to learn the word for cockroach and then visit some store...wonder what kind of store. Or maybe my landlord has cockroach stuff already. Sigh.
