Guys, I'm not totally sure who this is stolen from, anymore. About a dozen people on my flist have done it, so if you think I've stolen it from you...I probably have.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those ( Read more... )

I've read a great deal of them. random fact, the only book on there that i didn't like (my favorite [contemporary classic] book ever is on there, Catch 22!) is Gatsby. I hated that book with a burning passion.

Somewhere, Ryan Ross is having chest pains and has no clue why...

I really disliked it as well, though I think that may have more to do with the fact that I had to study it. I'm finding that the more you overanalyze a book in English class, the less appealing it seems. And a true test of a book is if it's still good even after you've overanalyzed it.

(Wait, did I miss something? Did Ryan say that he loved it, or something?)

There was mention of Gatsby in an interview forever ago, but i cna't remember the exact context. it was in reference to the new material i think (meaning either Pretty. Odd. or the material they scrapped, not sure). If i stumble onto it i'll let you know.

Huh. So Ryan Ross likes the Great Gatsby. Bizarre. We are maybe not as close as I'd previously thought :P

But cool, thank you.

Oh, you've read The Bell Jar! Is it any good? Also, yes, you are a terrible nerd, and you need to read more Jane Austen than Pride and Prejudice. Come on, EMMA.

I actually wasn't the biggest fan, to be honest. I didn't sympathize with the main character - aka Sylvia Plath - at all; instead, I found her pretty irritating. I like novels/stories that look inside mental hospitals, though, and 'Girl, Interrupted' is really good. Sort of the same idea, just in the '90s.

Look, to be honest with you, I didn't like Pride and Prejudice. So why would I want to read more?

If you've seen Clueless, you've basically read Emma. allthough, he movie based directly on the book starring Gwyneth Paltrow was really good as well. But I have this thing for Regency anything, so that's probably just my subconscious butting in *G*

All good. I have seen Clueless but, wow, that was ages ago. I need a chick flick night.

It makes me a terrible person to dislike Jane Austen, doesn't it?
