put a little sunshine in your life

Hello, people, happy weekend.

Thus far I have: played a Princess Diaries drinking game with my friends, fucked things up with someone important to me but will hopefully be able to fix it later, gone out to a less-than-satisfactory brunch with a friend for his half-birthday, talked to tailoredshirt for a really long time, and read fic. Productivity, I am doing ( Read more... )

poetry, rambling, books!, panic at the disco

I haven't heard of that first one - worth checking out, evidently, so I'll get on that. I always appreciate it when a book actually does make me stop and think. I feel the same way with movies and TV, though, and it really frustrates me when people view these things only as entertainment. /rant

I know, right? I have been showing it to everyone!

where have you been
all my life?
hopefully fighting
against oppressive
patriarchal systems.

perfect!

re books that changed my life. i have had several, but they may not have the same impact now. it was very much the 'when'. one was man's search for meaning by viktor frankl.

It is such an excellent poem! I really love pinch me./with consent of course

That's a good point - there are always things that are most important because they get you at exactly the right time.

That is always an excellent feeling! Being shaken out of something and having a whole new something opened up for you. I keep meaning to read some of Jennifer Cruise's stuff, because I always see you read them on goodreads.

Yeah, that's exactly it - I was so invested in them, and that seems like such a weird concept now, because...well, I guess most bands and just bands. But I know so much about them! And weird permutations of them, also, with AUs. That seems like a weird link, but it's like...I have an idea in my head of what they were like as teenagers, what they'd be like as college students, what would happen if they worked in malls or in publishing, etc etc.

I'm really glad; I loved it immediately!

I don't know if a book has ever changed my life permanently, but there definitely have been books that changed me in that moment...? I Capture the Castle, Less Than Zero and not a novel, but Amadeus probably had a much more long-lasting effect in that it changed my view on my life throughout school/uni and I've only recently started getting over it.

The poem is perfect! Made me smile, for sure.

I think that anything that changes your view on life in some way changes you permanently, in a sense.

I'm very glad!

Okay, so totally old entry, but I prefer when people comment when they're read regardless of how late it is; let me know if you feel otherwise.

Firstly: a /Princess Diaries/ drinking game! Awesome!
Secondly: Thankyou for always asking in your journal so many questions that I would like to ask or wish I did, like where to download tv or life-changing books or whatever.
And lastly: Cool poem!
