oh, dude, it's practically midnight and I'm falling asleep, but commenting here to remind myself to come back and say sensible things later, but mostly- yay intro post, and hi, and you have excellent taste.
(Also, please consider me to be even MORE impressed with your writing given your age, I had no idea.)
And, Marvel ftw! ...we do not speak of how many X Men back issues I have. *looks shifty*
I have excellent taste? Really? Yay! (People at my school tend to think I have no taste whatsoever - I don't know the Soulja Boy dance, therefore...)
(Oh, thank you! I didn't realize I'd made such an impression. How old did you think I was?)
Or we could speak of them! Because Marvel is awesome. And X-Men is awesome...are you reading the new Ultimates series? Or Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon? *continues fangirling away from computer to save you*
Absolutely. And, hrm, for what it's worth - though I suspect you probably know this - generally most people in school tend to think that the smarter/maturer people have no taste and then find to their peril that they are sooooooo wrong. :D (I... don't know what that is either!)
(You're most welcome, and you totally did. I honestly through you were in university, so.)
I am all terribly behind these days, to be honest - I haven't caught up in a couple years, though I do want to pick up Joss' Astonishing in trade at some point because JOSS and X MEN and I have heard good things from my best mate who is still buying comics (I had to cut myself off, it was them or books and I reread books more often). *appreciates your brave attempt to help save me from myself*
The thing I'm loving about school is the fact that I have somehow become labelled as an emo. It was so quick, too! I just said that I liked FOB for things other than Pete Wentz's body, and that yes, I did know who the funny people tattooed on his arm were, and suddenly - emo. It's a fun label when it makes so sense. (Teenagers make no sense...and I am a hypocrite.)
I'm really not all that great about keeping up with the comics. I read what I can from the library, but I don't have enough money to spend on them monthly. It's books for me too. That being said - please read Astonishing X-Men. It is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. I have a poster in my room, okay, I'm that obsessed.
I'm screwing over my LJ hiatus for like three minutes to refute your claims about Canberra. Circular, possibly, but what is this grey you speak of? It gets such a bad rap, but I adore it, tbh. The view from Mt. Ainslie, oh man. And I'm gone again. *zooms off*
Hmm, it totally could happen! I mean, if people can come back to life a gazillion times, I see no reason why there couldn't be some whole parallel universe debacle...(Darn, now you've got me thinking about it!)
Yes, I would highly recommend Sandman. Have you ever read any of Neil Gaiman's novels? Because if you like them, you'll love Sandman. Even if you haven't...Okay, for example, something I think is totally awesome in "The Doll's House", I think it was: there's a serial killer convention, and at one point you see the sign outside the motel says "CEREAL CONVENTION." I find this kind of amusing, but that's just 'cause I like puns.
Okay, no more fannish rambling.
Ooh, a video introduction post. You kids and your new-fangled techno-gadgetry.
Well if you're already a fan - read them! There are these beings called the Endless (Destruction, Destiny, Despair, Desire, Dream, Death, and Delirium) and the stories are centered around them. Though Dream specifically, for obvious reasons.
Hi! :D I'm Leah. I'm 15, and I live in Florida. I'm a supernewbie as far as comics and graphic novels go, but I've fallen head-over-heels in love with them. Simon and Garfunkel! \o/
Anyways, it's ace to meet you, and I'm working on my intro post. If I'm not interrupted by yard work, it should be up soon. :]
I've read totally random stuff from friends or times sat in book stores, and in my meager collection I've almost caught up to the current issues of Astonishing X-men, I (of course. XD) read the Umbrella Academy, I've got the first five tpbs of Fables, and Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, and TDK Strikes Again. Impart some of your mighty comics wisdom upon me? :DD
Honestly, I don't read that much more than you. Astonishing X-Men is my all-time favourite, though. I just love Joss, and I love Kitty Pryde, and there is so much of her! More importantly, there is so much Kitty/Pete, which is awesome.
I've also read The Umbrella Academy, a couple of Marvel's Civil War series, Ultimates (X-Men and Spider-man, though I'm not completely caught up), a little bit of Iron Man and Teen Titans. Oh, and Fantastic Four! Old and new. I pretty much read anything, though I'm not the hugest fan of Superman. (rant for a later date)
Oh, have you read the Batman Halloween comics? Because there was this one really awesome one with Scarecrow...

And I live in Canberra - not the world's most fascinating place.
Are you going to the Sydney concert, btw?
